The vast majority of people experienced the psychological stress of acne during puberty. In the best case, our parents took us to the dermatologist, perhaps also to the beautician, in the worst case, we "treated" our acne ourselves, which could leave long-lasting scars. Treating inflamed acne requires great care. Acne begins in puberty and can last into adulthood, but symptoms decrease with age.
What causes acne?
Acne is not a disease, it is a symptom. It is related to a change in the production of the sebaceous glands in the facial skin. In addition to endocrine disorders, this change can also be caused by an imbalance in the hormonal balance, which also changes the amount and quality of sebum production.
Too much sebum can then clog the exits of the sebaceous glands and they become keratinized. The sebum becomes trapped deep down and accumulates, trapping even more scaly epithelium and bacteria. The closed, airless environment encourages the growth of bacteria that break down the sebum into fatty acids. The accumulating fatty acid begins to stretch the gland walls, increasing inflammation.
The stretching causes the cyst to rupture and its contents to leak into the surrounding skin tissue, causing more severe inflammation. This is the stage of abscess formation, which heals with a very unsightly scar. Scar lesions can be treated with appropriate measures and natural cosmetics , but depending on skin type and lifestyle, they can flare up again.
What are the severity levels of inflamed acne?
Depending on its appearance, acne can be classified as superficial or deep. What degrees of severity can be distinguished?
- The first stage is when there is no inflamed blackhead, for example. Here we can speak of whiteheads when the surface is not yet closed. Blackheads are blackheads when they are covered by a layer of shit in which cellular debris accumulates. Aesthetically, it is not a pretty sight, but it is nothing to complain about.
- In the second phase, the blackhead becomes inflamed and a pimple or common acne develops.
- In the third stage, the pustular, acne-like form develops. This takes longer to heal and leaves a scar.
- The fourth stage, in which the cysts mentioned above develop, can only heal with severe scarring.
What should you use to treat inflamed acne?
What we definitely harm our skin with is the use of cosmetics with synthetic and non-natural ingredients. Disinfectant soaps are also bad for the skin because they destroy the skin's natural bacterial flora. For this reason, we recommend L'amia Natura Himalayan Mud Salt Soap , which contains natural ingredients such as peat mud, Himalayan salt and rosemary essential oil. The beneficial effect of natural soaps on the skin is extremely effective in cleansing inflamed or overly infected skin, thus relieving symptoms of inflammation. Oily, acne-prone skin has a characteristic complexion, and the use of soap tightens large pores, reduces sebum production and the number of acne breakouts.
Skin prone to acne should then be carefully and daily cared for, for example with our care products for oily skin , to reduce the appearance of acne so that your complexion always looks well-groomed, clean and sophisticated.
